The Minister of Energy, Kanchana Wijesekara, has stated that CPC will not begin fuel distribution to gas stations until the vehicles currently in line have been removed.
In addition, he reaffirmed that the National Fuel Pass and the last digit of the license plate will be required for the beginning of fuel distribution.
This morning, Kanchana Wijesekara met with representatives of the fuel station owners’ association to discuss the implementation of the new fuel supply system.
In addition, he discussed the safety of both fuel station employees and customers, as well as alternative methods for supplying fuel to vehicles whose needs cannot be registered with the Fuel Pass system.
In the discussion, the Minister proposed the 21st of April as a tentative date to begin fuel distribution following the 19th of July unloading of the Petrol cargo. However, the Minister tweeted earlier today that an official date of implementation will be forthcoming.
