No obstacles for peaceful protests: IGP

C.D. Wickramaratne, Inspector General of Police (IGP), stated today that peaceful protests will be tolerated.

In a special statement, the IGP stated that the Sri Lanka Police always respects the constitutionally guaranteed rights to free expression and peaceful assembly.

However, he urged the public to be cautious and avoid causing damage to government and private property as well as obstructing legitimately employed government and private employees from exercising their fundamental rights.
