Police haven’t paid water cannon expenses. The Sri Lanka Police has not yet paid the Water Board for the water that was used to scatter demonstrators during the most recent large-scale demonstrations in Colombo.

A Senior Police Official has reportedly admitted that the Police had used a significant amount of water during the protests.

The Police Official had also added that the Police Department has not yet made water cannon usage payments to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.

According to sources, the Police have moved to transport tear gas canisters from their outstation Police Stations to Colombo.

The Senior Police Officer claimed that due to the extensive usage of tear gas during the protests in Colombo and its environs, there were only a small quantity of tear gas canisters left in Colombo police stations.
