Postal operation is severely hampered by union activity

Published:

The Colombo Central Post Exchange’s abroad sector has over 400 parcels stacked up, according to the Department of Postal Services, as a result of the postal workers’ trade union action.

According to Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne, the Department loses more than Rs. 20 million in revenue as a result of this.

Ranjith Ariyaratne, the postmaster general, added that if the postal employees taking part in trade union action don’t show up for work, their positions will be deemed vacant.

The postal service is only currently open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays due to the fuel issue.
