Ranil Wickremesinghe, the interim president, and the prime minister has been challenged to run for president in parliament by Mano Ganeshan, the head of the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA).
Mano Ganeshan, a member of parliament, urged the prime minister to resign from his position immediately in a tweet.
The MP encouraged the Prime Minister to defuse the current situation in Sri Lanka rather than blaming him for further inciting the populace.
In order to defuse the crisis and allow Mr. Wickramasinghe to run for president inside of parliament on July 20th, MP Mano Ganeshan tweeted: “I call upon the prime minister @RW UNP to resign immediately and stop provocating the masses. This will pave the way for peaceful & democratic transition #lka.”
