During today’s meeting of Party Leaders, Ranil Wickremesinghe, the new president, and Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, talked.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe was in charge of the Party Leaders’ meeting.

MP and leader of the opposition Sajith Premadasa said that he had met the President and had a friendly and open conversation with him.

In a tweet, MP Premadasa said that he had told the opposition again that they were ready to help in a positive way to stop misery and disaster.

He also said that he had proposed strengthening the committee system in Parliament so that a national consensus could be reached instead of giving ministerial portfolios to political opportunists, which would waste the country’s limited resources.

Mano Ganesan, who is the leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA), said that President Ranil Wickremesinghe told the Party Leaders that he plans to put Parliament on hold for 24 hours.

MP Mano Ganesan also said that the President made this decision so that there could be a “new ceremonial start.”
