Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army until the recommendations of the 5-member Court of Inquiry are received, has relieved the officer involved in the incident at Yaggapitiya Petrol Station of all duties with immediate effect.

A parallel military investigation into the incident is also underway, with the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Military Police (SLACMP) taking statements.

On Monday (4), the Security Force Headquarters – West appointed a five-member Court of Inquiry, led by a Brigade Commander, to investigate the issue of this Senior Officer’s conduct and make recommendations.
