Sidhu Moose Wala murder suspects and police are in a shootout near Amritsar; ambulances are on the scene now.

Three ambulances have arrived in the village near Amritsar where the police are shooting at two people they think killed singer Sidhu Moose Wala. Sources say the area has been cordoned off and people have been told to stay inside.

The Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force had been following the two gangsters, Jagroop Singh Roopa and Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kussa, when the fight started in Bhakna village, about 20 kilometers from Amritsar.

Mannu Kussa is said to have fired the first shots at Moose Wala from an AK-47 rifle. He and Jagroop Roopa were two of three shooters on the run. While these two are having a shootout, Deepak Mundi has not been found yet. The rest — there were at least eight shooters — have been caught.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Siddhu Moose Wala, was shot and killed near his village of Moosa in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29. He was a Congress leader as well as a singer, songwriter, and rapper.

Police from Punjab, Delhi, and Mumbai have all been on the case. Satinderjit Singh, aka Goldy Brar, who lived in Canada, is said to have planned the murder with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who was already in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

Goldy Brar is said to have claimed responsibility for the murder through Facebook posts. The posts said it was payback for the murder of an Akali leader, Vicky Middukhera, last year.

Since then, Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice to find Goldy Brar in connection with two other cases filed in Faridkot, Punjab.

Punjab’s Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government is also being questioned because the murder happened just one day after Sidhu Moose Wala’s security was cut down to two cops as part of a larger campaign against “VIP culture.” But the singer wasn’t with the two cops, nor was he in his bulletproof car, when he was attacked.
