Yesterday, a soldier was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant while participating in a training exercise in the Valamandiya forest area of Aralagangwila.
The deceased was a 19-year-old apprentice soldier undergoing training at the Maduruoya Army Special Forces Training School, according to police.
He was critically injured in the attack and died after being taken to Aralagangwila Hospital.
The victim is an Ambagasduwa resident.
The Aralagangwila Police Department is conducting additional investigations.
