Some mill owners mix imported rice with local rice to be sold for undue profits – Dudley Sirisena

Published:

Dudley Sirisena, President of the Rice Millers’ Association and Chairman of the Araliya Group, claimed that some other mill owners, including a prominent one, were involved in blending imported rice varieties with local varieties to sell for a profit.

Mr. Sirisena, the brother of former President Maithripala Sirisena, stated in an interview with the Daily Mirror that rice stocks are available for three more months in the country and that they can be sold at the government-specified price. He claimed that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s decision to implement organic farming destroyed the country’s rice farming.
