Sri Lankan refugee dies in Tamil Nadu. On June 27, a 71-year-old woman female refugee who had fled crisis-ridden Sri Lanka with her 81-year-old husband was discovered unresponsive on the shore of Dhanushkodi. She passed away on Saturday night at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.

The Mannar couple, Parameswari and Periyannan Sivan, were brought to Ramanathapuram Government Hospital due to shock and dehydration. The same evening, they were subsequently sent to Government Rajaji Hospital.

The couple had travelled to Tamil Nadu to visit their children and other family members who were living in the Valavandankottai Refugee Camp. On June 27, at around 7 a.m., local fishermen found the two unconscious close to the Kothandaramar temple.

According to doctors, Parameswari had a blood clot in her brain, which was removed via a craniotomy procedure. She remained in the ICU, nevertheless, and passed away without reacting to care. The woman allegedly had hypertension and diabetes.
