Yupun Abeykon became the first Sri Lankan and the first South Asian to break the 10-second barrier in the 100m for the first time.

Abeykoon previously competed in the finals of the Resisprint International Chaux-de-Fonds 2022 in Switzerland, finishing with a time of 9.96 seconds.

Accordingly, today he broke the record he set last May by recording a time of 10.6 seconds.
