The comments made by the Acting President have been condemned by the Catholic Church. Speaking to media in Colombo today, Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando, the Spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Colombo claimed that Scotland Yard, Interpol, and other international law enforcement organizations should have helped Sri Lankan authorities investigate the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks.

He chastised Ranil Wickremesighe, the Acting President, for his hesitation in requesting such international aid for an impartial investigation.

The claims made by the Acting President, according to Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando, cannot be trusted or accepted since they are nothing more than lies.

Such remarks, he claimed, are an insult to both those who are fighting for justice and the victims of the Easter Sunday Attacks.

The Acting President, according to Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando, is allegedly exploiting the suffering of the victims in order to win the Presidency.
