The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) has appealed to the public to remain calm and refrain from violence and vandalism during this critical situation.
In a statement, the ACJU also urged Sri Lanka’s political leaders to immediately convene the parliament and establish political stability.
In light of the current state of unrest in our nation, the populace must ensure that evil forces do not misdirect the democratic people’s struggle.
Accordingly, the people of our country, particularly those participating in demonstrations, should ensure that their protests and demonstrations are conducted peacefully, in accordance with the country’s laws and democratic values, and without resorting to any form of violence or causing damage to public or private property, it was stated.
The ACJU added that, as the upcoming days are anticipated to be crucial, it respectfully requests that everyone maintains their respective religious values and refrains from violence in order to establish political stability in the country.
As the Chief Prelates of the three Buddhist Chapters have urged, we too urge the political leaders to convene the Parliament without further delay and to establish political stability in the country by proposing a suitable and acceptable solution for the people.
In addition, during this time of crisis, the ACJU respectfully requests that political leaders put aside their political differences and personal agendas and focus on the future and prosperity of our Motherland.
