The shipment of fertilizer from India is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. A shipment of fertilizer from India is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow (09), according to Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera. According to the Minister, the shipment consists of 40,000 Metric Tonnes of fertilizer. He further stated that the fertilizer shipment was obtained through India’s credit facility.
The Government requested a credit facility from the Government of India for the importation of 65,000 MT of urea fertilizer to meet the immediate demand for urea fertilizer during the Yala cultivation season.
In response to the request, the Government of India agreed to provide a USD 55 million credit line for the purchase of urea fertilizer from India.
