Trains will operate in Western Province despite the curfew.

Published:

Even though a curfew has been imposed in the Western Province, Sri Lanka Railways says trains will operate until commuters return to their homes.

Mr. Dhammika Jayasundara, General Manager of Railways, stated that the department is working to complete the task so that commuters are not inconvenienced.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, in his capacity as Acting President, has ordered the immediate imposition of a curfew in the Western Province and the island-wide imposition of emergency law, the Prime Minister’s Office announced earlier.

PM Wickremesinghe has also ordered the security forces to arrest those engaging in disorderly conduct and seize the vehicles they are traveling in, according to the statement.
