An elderly woman was reportedly killed by two alligators in a pond near her home in Florida after falling into the water.
According to a statement from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was seen falling into a pond at the Boca Royale Golf and Country Club in Englewood at 7:47 p.m.
The authorities believe that the alligators killed the woman despite the fact that she “struggled to stay afloat.”
After the horrific event, a trapper from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) removed the alligators from the pond.
In a similar incident in May, the arm of a 47-year-old man named Sean Thomas McGuinness was severed and he was found dead in Largo’s John S. Taylor Park.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, alligators have already killed multiple people in 2022, despite the fact that their bites are relatively uncommon.
According to the commission, Florida has experienced an average of eight serious unprovoked bites per year over the past decade.
It was stated in a statement that the odds of a Florida resident being seriously injured in an unprovoked alligator attack in Florida are approximately one in 3,100,000.
In Florida, alligator bites have killed only 26 people from 1948 to 2021, according to the commission.
