The Department of Meteorology says thundershowers or showers will occur at times in Sabaragamuwa province and in Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts
In the Western and North-Western provinces, there will be several waves of rain.
In many other places, there will be rain or thundershowers in the evening or night.
Some places in North-central Province, Trincomalee, and Mullaitivu district can expect rain that is 75 mm or more.
People are asked to take the right safety measures to limit the damage that can be done by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea zones:
There will be showers in a few places in the sea off the coasts from Batticaloa to Kankesanturai, passing through Trincomalee. In the other sea areas around the Island, it’s likely to rain a little bit.
Winds will be coming from the southwest at 25–40 km/h. In the sea areas off the coast from Puttalam to Pottuvil, including Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota, the wind speed can reach 50 to 55 kph.
From Puttalam to Pottuvil, along the coast, through Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota, there will be rough seas at times. Other parts of the sea around the island can be calm.
The swell waves off the coasts of Puttalam, Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota are likely to get as high as 2.5 to 3 meters.
In this case, the fishing and naval communities in the above-mentioned sea areas are asked to be careful.
