Raids on traders selling eggs at high prices

According to the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, and Food Safety, raids will begin today (08) to locate traders selling eggs at exorbitant prices.
Minister Nalin Fernando stated that animal feed prices have also decreased recently.

A gazette notice establishing an egg control price has also been issued.

As a result, the Minister stated that the Consumer Affairs Authority will conduct raids to locate traders selling eggs at inflated prices.

Meanwhile, the All Ceylon Poultry Businessmen’s Association reports a market shortage of eggs.

According to its chairman, Mr. Ajith Gunasekara, many poultry farmers have closed their operations due to the current economic situation in the country.
