After an accident involving the taxi they were driving to Negombo in Nittambuwa Town, the Nittambuwa Police detained four youngsters from a children’s home in Nuwara Eliya.

The children, ages 16, 12, and 11, who are being held at the children’s home pursuant to a court order, allegedly stole a taxi from the children’s home and were on their way to see the Negombo beach when they were involved in an accident in Nittambuwa Town, according to the police.

According to police, the cab struck a van in Nittambuwa Town but did not stop.

Later, the van’s driver followed the taxi and stopped them near the statue of Bandaranaike in Horagolla on the Kandy-Colombo Road, where he called the police.

Police discovered that the 16-year-old Nanu Oya boy was operating the taxi.

According to the police, the child was operating the taxi toward Negombo while it was being followed by a bus headed that direction.

One of the four kids was in a Negombo children’s home before being moved to Nuwara Eliya, it has been found.

The other kids were located in Talawakele, Pundalu Oya, and Nuwara Eliya, respectively.

Nittambuwa Police, who stated that the youngsters would be presented at the Attanagalle Magistrate’s Court, are currently conducting more investigations.
