A 39-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of stealing camera gear worth more than Rs. 500,000 from a Colpetty, Colombo-based commercial media organization.
Last Friday, according to the police, media professionals were working on some broadcasts when the camera equipment was taken (02).
The suspect was detained by members of the Mount Lavinia Crimes Investigation Unit yesterday in the Serampathkotuwa area as a result of a complaint made yesterday.
When it was discovered that the suspect, a Deyyandara resident, was in possession of the stolen goods, he was arrested and turned over to the Mount Lavinia Police station.
Today, the suspect will be presented in front of the Fort Magistrate’s Court.
