Published:

According to Sri Lankan health officials, another COVID-19 wave is possible, and the pandemic could resurface as a result of the latest variant.

As a result, the general public has been advised to obtain the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in order to protect themselves from the most recent variant.

Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Director-General of Health Services, has urged the public to get the second booster shot.

Dr. Gunawardena urged those over the age of 20 to get the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine because the new variant is highly transmissible.

According to the Director-General of Health Services, vaccination can prevent serious illnesses and deaths among those infected with the virus.

He went on to say that those over the age of 60, as well as those planning to travel abroad, needed to get their second booster shot.

The vaccines are available at all government hospitals, Medical Officer of Health Departments, and other designated vaccination sites, according to Dr. Asela Gunawarden.

Due to the country’s current situation, he urged the public to contact vaccination centers and make appointments.
